Parish Groups
Altar Servers: Our parish is blessed with a dedicated team of altar servers, children and adults. They serve whenever they can and commit to doing so on time and with due reverence. Many are members of the Archconfraternity of St Stephen. If you wish to be an altar server please contact the Cathedral Dean.
Cafod: Cafod is the official aid agency for the Catholic Church in England and Wales and a member of Caritas International. We as volunteers put our faith into action to help our sisters and brothers living in extreme poverty overseas to reach their full potential regardless of religion or culture. Our priority is to equip people with skills and opportunities to live with dignity, support their families and give something back to their communities.
Cathedral Cleaning Team: The cathedral cleaners work in the main cathedral every Saturday morning, normally from 09.00 - 10.30. New volunteers are always welcome. Just come along. No previous experience required, and all tools provided. Work includes sweeping, mopping, polishing, wiping, washing, hoovering, tidying etc. If you cannot make Saturday mornings, a few cleaners work in other parts of the cathedral complex on other days. For more information contact the Parish Office.
Cash Counters: What happens to all the collection monies after Sunday Masses? On a Monday morning between 9.00-11.00 a group of parishioners sort and count all the monies for banking; after which there is always time for tea and biscuits. Many hands make light work, so if you are available once a month on a Monday we would be very pleased to see you. Please contact Lesley Jones at the Parish office.
Insight: InSight is a group working together to build community for those who feel isolated, perhaps through caring for others, or who experience mental ill health, those in recovery from addition, or who do not have a place to meet others. We offer a variety of activities including arts and crafts, board games and a hot, two course meal. For further details, just come along and speak to Sue Cregan, one of the team .
Teas and Coffees: To help serve tea/coffee after Sunday 10.00 Mass in the Cathedral Hall. To clean and tidy up afterwards by putting the dishes in the dishwasher, wipe down tables and kitchen surfaces, putting away tables and chairs. If interested to be on a monthly rota, please contact the parish office.
