Personality Profile: Connor Turnbull and Ethan Creamer

Connor Turnbull and Ethan Creamer

Reminiscent of Hilary and Tensing struggling beneath the weight of their loads, cousins Connor Turnbull (left) and Ethan Creamer are often seen after Noon Mass returning mountains of hymnals to their rightful place.  But that is not all this indivisible duo contribute to the Cathedral.

Ethan (10 yrs) and Connor (11 yrs), both at school in Portsmouth, both keen football players (‘Midfield, defence or in goal), do differ in that Ethan’s favourite subject at school, where he plays violin in the orchestra, is History.  But Connor, who’d like to be a sportsman or an engineer when he grows up, prefers ‘Hockey … and Maths!’

Another of the few areas in which these two great friends differ is that Ethan has a dog called Marma(duke) whereas Connor freely admits: ‘I’ve just got an older brother’.  Apart from that the ‘two inseparables’  - ‘If you see one of us, then the other’s not far away’ - are both stewards at Noon Mass during which they often help with the Children’s Liturgy.

They both tell of their most embarrassing moments:

- Connor on a school trip to a dairy farm stepped in something to his disgust but to everyone else’s amusement

- Ethan admits to dropping things and falling off the chairs he sits on.

‘So, I’ll keep an eye out,’ says Ethan, ‘for where Connor’s walking.’ ‘And I’ll be there to pick up after Ethan,’ says Connor, ‘ and to pick him up whenever he falls off his pew.’
