First Holy Communion

Our First Holy Communion programme begins at the end of September in the form of Children's Sessions. These take place in the Cathedral at 11.30 and through the noon Mass. The children spend the first 25 minutes working with the Catechists and then go into Mass as a group.

Throughout the programme, the children use a book. The Holy Communion team will work from the book and we would encourage you to share it with your child at home.

On some of the dates below you will find Family Sessions listed. On these dates, the children will be taught by the catechists, while the parents meet with some of the team to discuss their child's preparation; ways to support their child and details of preparations to have in order for the children's special day.

The most important part of the children's preparation is in coming to Mass. We hope that you will fully support your child's learning by regularly attending Mass in the Cathedral.

There is always support available from the Parish. The Priests and Catechists will be happy to answer any queries you may have, at any point, throughout the programme. If your child is at a Catholic school you will find help and guidance available there too. Miss Hobbs, Headteacher of our parish school is always happy to assist parents.
