What is Baptism?
Baptism, or Christening, is the sacrament by which we are born again of water and the Holy Spirit, and by which we are received into a new and spiritual life and become the Children of God
How do you get Baptised?
The first step to baptism is to contact one of the Parish Priests on 023 9282 6170 where you will be given the timetable for the next cycle of Baptisms.
The first stage in the cycle is to attend the 10:00 Mass in the cathedral where you or your child will be presented with a Cross to take home and place in a prominent position. After this mass there will be refreshments in the centre followed by a short meeting.
Next your child will be invited to the 12:00 Mass the following Sunday during which you or your child will be anointed with the Oil of Baptism in preparation for the Sacrament of Baptism.
Finally, the following Sunday your child will receive the Sacrament of Baptism at a public service at 14:30 in the Cathedral.
How much does it cost?
There is no charge for Baptism; an offering is left to your discretion.
